Summer staycation 2

Who would have thought last Summer that European holidays in 2021 would be equally if not more disrupted than they were in 2020. By July of any 'normal' year we will have visited La Croix at least 2-3 times - a Winter weekend in front of the log burner, a spring visit to sort out the garden early season and check guest supplies and general pre-season preparation and then we would normally visit in July as it is such a lovely time of year with all the sunflowers in full bloom. We did manage our Winter and July visits in 2020 but with the continuing Covid restrictions in both the UK and France we haven't visited since.... and we are really starting to miss it. Fortunately La Croix is being looked after well for us and is welcoming guests from France, Belgium & Holland, all of whom seem to love it as much as we do. Fingers crossed we get over by the end of the Summer or Autumn....we are double jabbed and ready to go (once they sort out the small issue of the EMA approval of the AZ India batch of the vaccine!)

Like many others we have taken the opportunity to explore the beautiful parts of the UK and we have found some lovely places and even had lots of sunshine! Last week we were enjoying the delights of the Scottish Borders and the Northumberland Coast with City trips to Edinburgh and Newcastle thrown in! We had a great afternoon trying out Paddle Boarding on St Mary's Loch - a really stunning loch and lots of fun. Our trip to Bamburgh and the beach was also a highlight - really lovely sand stretching miles, clear sea and a stunning castle as a back drop. And we found out that Trev (our Westie) could fly! Great fun was had by all.
